Which pet parent are you?
Every pet and its devoted parent have their own style and personality. Do you treat your pet like royalty or believe in giving them room to be free? Personally, I do both!!
Can you spot yourself in one or more of these common pet parenting styles?
The Helicopter Pet Parent
Here, you keep a close eye on diet, safety and emotional well-being. Your pet has their own seatbelt harness, sunscreen and gets only filtered water.
The Free-range Pet Parent
This pet parenting style encourages pets to explore, sniff, dig and get a little dirty. They are off leash where it is safe, and meals are not always on the dot.
The Routine Keeper
The opposite of being free-range. Walks happen at the same time each day, meals are carefully portioned and nutritionally balanced and there are regular training sessions as well.
The Softie Parent
This is definitely me!!! Pets run the household. They sleep in your bed, you give them a piece of your dinner or cook special meals for them, and they have more toys than they would ever need.
The Pack Leader
If this is your pet parenting style, you are all about discipline and mutual respect. You are well versed in animal behaviour, and your pet is well-behaved and responsive.
The Co-dependent
These two are inseparable. Your pet accompanies you on errands, holidays and even video calls. This one is a definite package deal!
Which one are you?
I’m sure that your pet parenting style incorporates elements from all of these! Whichever overall style you feel is most accurate, it really just reflects your special bond with your pet.
And this is my ‘why’ for creating pet portraits – to celebrate that treasured bond!
